Effective Addiction Treatment

Maric Healthcare exists to provide treatment options for those struggling with opioid addiction. We provide both methadone and suboxone treatment in our facilities. Along with treatment, we also provide individual counseling to our patients that will help our patients progress and succeed in our treatment program.

According to the national Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA),  Every day, more than 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. The misuse of and addiction to opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl—is a serious national crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the total "economic burden" of prescription opioid misuse alone in the United States is $78.5 billion a year, including the costs of healthcare, lost productivity, addiction treatment, and criminal justice involvement.

What Is Methadone?

Methadone is a drug commonly used to treat opiate addiction and relieve pain. Methadone is not intended to treat addictions to other drugs such as alcohol, cocaine marijuana or other non-opioid drugs. Methadone blocks the receptors in the brain that are affected by opiates such as heroin and prescription drugs, enabling users to gradually detox from opiates without experiencing painful withdrawal symptoms.

Methadone is considered the gold standard for opioid addiction treatment. Many studies have been formed and these studies support the evidence that methadone maintenance treatment, such as the program we offer, is a successful and effective program in treating heroin and opiate dependence.

What Is Suboxone?

Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication, sometimes called a narcotic. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioid medication, including pain relief or feelings of well-being that can lead to opioid abuse.

Both of our programs show positive results within the first ninety days. Remaining in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical. The appropriate duration for an individual in treatment depends of the type and degree of the patients problems and needs. Research indicates that most addicted patients need as least three months of treatment to significantly reduce or stop their drug use.

Are Methadone And Suboxone Safe?

When used as prescribed, both methadone and suboxone can be safely taken while in treatment. Methadone and suboxone do not impair the ability to drive, work, or perform normal ordinary activities. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), methadone is medically safe even when used continually for 10 years or more.  All medication in our treatment program is used under medical supervision. With this in mind, methadone and suboxone and be taken safely without any damaging side effects. Methadone and suboxone is a well-tested medication that is safe and efficacious for the treatment of opiate dependence. At the correct dose, there is no impairment to mental function or daily activities. These medications are prescribed and distributed by licensed nurses with the approval of our on site doctor, under strict state and federal guidlines.

While you are prescribed methadone or suboxone, is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Choose nutritious foods, exercise regularly, and take a daily multivitamin/mineral supplement.

Patient Centered Counseling

While the patients medication plays a vital role in treatment, our counselors also play a major role in the patients overall success in treatment. Each patient will receive individual counseling with treatment plans that cater to that patients needs. Weekly counseling sessions has been proven to significantly increase the patients success during treatment. Clinics also provide group counseling to those who wish to participate.

Each patient is assigned a counselor upon admission to our program, who is responsible for the service coordination. Our counseling services are designed to support you during your recovery. process. Staff members are specially trained to assist you with your questions about addiction, stabilization, and recovery. The goal of our counselors is to help you and your loved ones develop a healty lifestyle. Referrals are made, when needed, to educational, medical and social service resources. Your counselor will conduct an assessment to help you determine your needs in treatment and will collaborate with you to create goals and a plan to achieve those goals.
